VLOG – Healing Depression – How to look within
Hello
After many months hiatus, here is a healing VLOG (the first of many I hope) for people with Depression or any other manifestation of psychological pain such as drug, alcohol or food dependency, anxiety, PTSD, Chronic disease, Childhood trauma

Looking Within to start the Journey to Well Being
You hear an awful lot about looking within to find healing, to find peace, to find yourself in fact
But exactly how, do you do that
Here’s a way you can incorporate ‘looking within’ into your life today and start getting the benefit
Working with the breath
Every hour stop what you are doing, close your eyes and take 3 slow gentle breaths
In 1-2-3
Out 1-2-3
Just 3 breaths. Every hour for maybe 4 consecutive hours. Set a reminder on your phone
As you get more comfy doing this – after a few days perhaps
Start to notice the breath, as it enters and as it leaves
Imagine a gentle power coming into you on the In breath
Soften your shoulders and let your belly go to jelly on the Out breath
3 breaths. Every hour. For a few hours a day.

You get to decide what you hurt about
You get to choose how long you hurt for
When you are ready
When you desire Wellness and seek it, just a little
It will unfold for you
At a pace you can easily handle
You get to experiment
Learn
Understand
Know
What Well Being looks like for you
…and the journey will give you great wisdom and clarity…if you let it
It is just a decision you make

“I am going to learn how to be well”
“I am going to find hope”
“I am going to find Beauty and Magic and Joy”
Feel your way….
And you say it to yourself quite a few times a day

Just make a decision to notice it here and there
…and then remember “I’m going to get well” if you notice your thoughts make you feel down
Embrace the power of this simple statement “I’m going to get well”

In your Soul
Expect that your walk to Wellness will take 6 months to 2 years perhaps. Depending upon which aspect of the learning you are focusing upon, when you begin
Where you are starting, in this very personal journey
Start a conversation with yourself and tell a different story
A story of where you are going
Not where you have been
Try another thought, now and then
One that brings a smile perhaps
Change your focus
Look up and outward into the light
Appreciate something, anything, in this moment now
Whenever you do that, you look toward your best self
And as you seek, the teachers will appear

The psychiatrists job – A Journey to Well Being
And this healing journey is available to all
And what is your job…as a psychiatrist?
To help them find their way to their Own well being
To assist them in discovering what well being looks like for Them
No-one else
Not the Doc or the drug company or the family or the friends, or the lover, or the healer, but themselves
And by focusing on their well being a little here…and a little there….not today perhaps, but tomorrow a little
And then at some point, they begin to actually enjoy, the unfolding journey
While I strongly believe that current medications make it more difficult to get back to Well Being, I do not recommend sudden cessation
Rather, find your way to well being first
On a regular basis
With safety nets available
Strategies and plans for you to deal with the often prolonged emotional, physical and mental withdrawal from these drugs that have messed with your ever so finely balanced neurotransmitters.
Neurotransmitters that are involved in every moment of your life
The Psychiatrist should have in depth knowledge of the cessation syndromes, otherwise they have no right to prescribe them
Healing is there for all
It is so
